Dear TAF,
Winter is definitely upon us. No snow yet, but we're certainly feeling the Pacific Northwest chill!

The start of winter and end of the calendar year means it's time to for our students to share their fall projects. Our TechStart students are busy getting ready for presentations at the Open Houses the week of December 15th. They'll get to show their family and friends all the great things they've been learning over the past 10 weeks.

Meanwhile, TAF Academy students are preparing for their first Learning Conference, during which they will exhibit their work to an authentic audience. Last week I visited the 9th grade French class while students delivered a French lesson to a class of 1st and 2nd grade Starlake Elementary School students. The energy in the room was incredible and our TAF Academy students turned out to be pretty good teachers. I took a few photos which you can see in our photo gallery.

This is also the season when many of us give and receive gifts. Generally, as we get older, we cherish memories more than material things. If anything, many folks are looking for ways to simplify and unclutter our lives this year.

Do you know what's really worth giving? You know what I'm going to say - the gift of an education.

Consider the value in supporting a TAF student this holiday season. Give a gift to TAF in the name of a friend, family member, coworker or neighbor - anyone you care about - and we will send them a fabulous e-card announcing your gift. Visit our new online donation page to get started!

Before I sign off, I have some feedback about an amazing event I attended for the Partnership for Learning. I had the great honor of sharing the stage with Jane Margolis, an educator and author of Stuck in the Shallow End, which I mentioned in my last update. Read more about our discussion and her work on closing the technology achievement gap.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday, eat lots of great food and make cool plans for the new year.

Thanks for listening!
