Our Programmatic Model
All best practices from TAF Academy are replicated through our work transforming public schools into STEM schools using the STEMbyTAF School Transformation model and our STEMbyTAF Teacher Institute where we teach public school educators how to deliver the STEMbyTAF pedagogy in their own schools. TAF also offers STEMbyTAF Lab, an after school enrichment opportunity focused on delivering a rich STEM experience including quarterly courses, innovative hack spaces and experiential events to students.
Consistent with TAF’s overall mission to prepare underserved students of color, we intentionally seek partnerships with school districts that serve neighborhoods that meet a range of criteria. These criteria include
- At least 70% of the student population are children of color,
- More than 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch
- There are schools that qualify for Title I Federal assistance and
- The students’ standardized test scores (state-mandated MSP) are below the state and district averages.
