[PHOTOS] Yesterday on Taco Tuesday, we celebrated our volunteers with tacos and margaritas.

Last night, volunteers representing over 1,650 hours committed to supporting TAF’s students and teachers congregated at our headquarters, Bethaday Community Learning Space. It was TAF’s first volunteer appreciation event and we were excited to share our gratitude through Tacos on TAF, a Taco Tuesday paired with margaritas, music, and acknowledgement for volunteers to take part in.

The evening’s volunteer attendees represented the many facets of our organization’s programs. From financial literacy workshop leaders from Bank of America who presented to our TAF@Saghalie students, education leaders who shared experience and perspective at our Network for EdWork and Martinez Fellowships events, and site visit hosts who have given students opportunities to peek inside various industries – the impact of their support is felt far and wide.

We started out with a Taco Bar dinner and drinks before launching into a short yet sweet program to acknowledge the contributions of our volunteers and provide an overview of past and future events. Guests also had the pleasure to hear from one of our recurring volunteers, Perris Davis of Capital One, who since hosting students to the company’s Seattle office has remained engaged by volunteering at numerous events. Lastly, TAF Development Associate Sade Britt who manages our volunteer program provided a short presentation to share the wide range of volunteer opportunities available.

The evening continued with casual conversation, food, drinks, music, and even dancing! As guests left, they received a personalized certificate and #TeamTAF t-shirt, one of the ways we induct individuals into our TAF family.
