A tour of TAF Academy? Yes, please!

One of the best parts of being on the development team at TAF is getting to check out the programs and talk to participants. Last Thursday the student ambassadors of TAF Academy hosted visitors for the first tour of the school year, and I was one of the lucky attendees.

The ambassadors were very knowledgeable and seemed far more mature, self-assured and self-motivated than any teenagers I went to school with. They were able to answer all questions about the students and classes; they even offered up information I hadn’t thought to ask about.

Each classroom was fully-stocked with the latest helpful technologies for teachers and students, like SMART Boards and document cameras; even the art class was using technology I hadn’t seen before. The students were very engaged in every class, especially with the TSP professionals, who were teaching students about coding and were very enthusiastic about sharing their work— it was inspiring to watch professionals from one of the world’s top STEM companies interact so well with the students.

The school is small and students seem close. I was impressed the most by the high-level curriculum and students’ ability to work well in groups and autonomously on projects. I wish a place like TAF Academy had been around when I was in high school!
